Funders Meet Funders

Expanding Our Thinking and Reach
We invite all endowed private funders and foundations to join us in exploring innovative approaches that extend beyond traditional philanthropy—approaches that can amplify the reach and effectiveness of our grants. Our group encourages members to think not only big but also broadly.

As we confront major challenges facing the social sector, we ask:

  • How can we extend our reach to support many more people, communities, and environments?
  • Beyond our own grantmaking, how can we help strengthen the entire social sector?

Three Levels of Engagement
Broader approaches sometimes bring about extraordinary change—far beyond what’s achievable through conventional methods alone. We present examples below to spark ideas. And, we invite you to join us in imagining how funders, working together, might take on challenges rarely addressed at the level of scale discussed below.

1. Big, Broad Transformative Thinking
With nearly 10 million nonprofit and for-good organizations worldwide, ultra-high-net-worth donors and major foundations could collaborate to launch a coordinated initiative. After identifying needs and gaps, they could help connect vast numbers of these organizations to platforms and tools that support their ability to:

  • Improve fundraising and communication strategies
  • Use AI and emerging technologies effectively
  • Build stronger partnerships and strategic alliances
  • Explore high-potential mergers
  • Boost operational efficiency

2. Mid-Scale, High-Impact Action
Funders could join forces to build national, cross-sector partnerships to unlock and better direct billions in government funding—addressing systemic challenges while scaling effective solutions.

3. Smaller, Targeted Interventions
As AI advances, the digital divide grows. A group of funders could pool resources to deliver AI literacy and digital skills training to leaders of nonprofit networks—networks that could collectively equip hundreds or thousands of organizations to address critical issues and better serve their communities.

The Funder-to-Funder Infrastructure Group
Peter Brach leads this diverse group of endowed funders and foundations. We focus on far-reaching, high-impact opportunities, such as those mentioned above. Representatives from the Gates, Hilton, Ford, Mott, eBay, and Flora Family Foundations are already participating in our discussions.

All endowed funders are welcome—whether you’re curious to learn more, want to present ideas of your own, or are ready to engage directly.

Join us as we push boundaries, strengthen the sector, and multiply our individual impact through collaborative, far-reaching funding strategies.

We have a directory of SIIOs for you to explore. We hope you will find exciting opportunities to pursue with one or more of these organizations.
